Art has saved me in so many ways. Im enamored with process and trying to develop a bridge between my thoughts and whatever medium I choose.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love oil painting. I believe that I can create imagery that not only tells a story, but also allows the viewer to appreciate the autonomy of what they are viewing. I create pieces of time that are stuck in my brain. The process of bridging my thoughts with the chosen medium has rendered me obsessed with realism, surrealism, and trying to create something beautiful from dark and disturbing aspects of life.
Where do you find inspiration?Every-day-life, personal relationships, life experiences, human emotion, and the blizzard of emotions that swirl around taking my own inventory have all been aspects of inspiration, in my heart and in my mind throughout the past few years. I try and journal in a manner that allows me to feel comfortable with knowing that some of my thoughts are fleeting. Therefore, I give myself the grace to appreciate the possibility of not being able to recreate my initial thoughts. So I write them down.
What would you do with $25,000?A portion will go towards my spinal cord surgery. I will give portions to both my Children. My Son is finishing up his first year of College. My Daughter is finishing up her Junior Year of High School. Another portion of the money would go towards updating my art supplies and my Studio. I would take another portion and plan a small vacation to somewhere My Family and I have never been together. I Love the idea of spending a week at Zion National Park.
