I create art because it’s what my soul is called to do. The human experience involves expressions that words alone cannot convey.

I find beauty in old machine parts and love to reimagine them as art. Historically, my work has been large-scale oils on canvas. Lately, much of my work consists of found objects, mixed media, and combining metal leaf with oils on canvas. I'm always curious about new materials and techniques so my skillset grows with new interests. In my mind, curiosity is the mother of invention (not just necessity ~ Plato).
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everything: nature, man-made objects, architecture, other people's expressions of compassion, love, rage, hate, fear. The world is a beautiful and tragic place. Making and experiencing art helps me compartmentalize, embrace, and understand what it means to be human. I find meaning and belonging when I create art that is passionate or profound in a way that moves a viewer: be it by joy, hate, or any place on the spectrum outside of the mundane "that's interesting" realm.
What would you do with $25,000?Enhance/build out my art studio (which needs updating); buy more art materials (gold leaf and some of my favorite oil colors are not inexpensive); and travel to Japan for inspiration for the next decade/incarnation of my work.
