I love the immersive feeling of transforming the world in my mind into something alive on the canvas.

I love all subject matters and all mediums but portraiture and figurative pieces are my absolute favourite! The human form hasn’t lasted for centuries as a favourite artist’s subject matter by chance. There is always something to learn as skin and facial features are so unique. I find each time there is a combination of familiarity and exploration that really captures my interest.
Where do you find inspiration?Literally everywhere…the angles of a building or the textures of moss on a rock, the way light interacts with skin tones… I zone out sometimes during conversations as I get immersed in the color shifts of the flesh… but I think it’s totally worth it๐
What would you do with $25,000?I think I would use the cash to create pop up shows for myself and other artists, maybe groups of 4 or 5 to promote figurative work. I live in Vancouver and while there are tons of amazing artists living here, it can be really challenging to showcase contemporary/classical figurative work and i would be great to showcase for aspiring artists.
