Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

My favorite type of art is not defined by medium or style, but by the message, story, emotion, and questions behind it. I use acrylic on canvas and ink on paper as my main languages, and sometimes dry pastel for 2D animation. I enjoy shifting between mediums as different ways to express inner worlds. My work often uses surreal imagery and symbolic figures to explore connection, hope, identity, and how we navigate uncertainty and create meaning in life.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration mainly from my life experiences and the stories people share with me. As a full-time artist navigating uncertainty, motherhood, and building a career, everyday moments often become emotional triggers for ideas. I’m also inspired by interviews, books, and music that speak about resilience and chasing dreams. These influences often translate into symbolic, surreal images in my work, where personal memory and shared human experience meet.

What would you do with $25,000?

As an emerging–mid career artist, $25,000 would be life-changing. I would invest it to grow my practice and take a meaningful step toward my dream of pursuing an MFA. More than personal growth, I want my art to create impact beyond myself. I hope to support and uplift other female artists facing similar challenges, sharing opportunities, resources, and encouragement. I would use this award not only to build my path, but to help others believe theirs is possible too.
