Creating fiber art grounds me, calms my soul, and brings me joy while transforming simple fibers into tactile expressions of creativity.

I create fiber art, specializing in needle felting and wet felting. I love transforming soft, cloud-like wool into detailed 2D images, sculptural forms, and wearable pieces. The process is both relaxing and meditative, yet full of surprise—fibers shift, blend, and evolve in unexpected ways. Each piece feels like a collaboration, as the wool often seems to have ideas of its own about what it wants to become.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration primarily in nature, using fiber, color, and texture to echo flora and fauna or reinterpret unexpected forms—like soft wool and silk vessels that resemble marble sculpture. I’m drawn to the richness of color and the unique textures of different fibers to create visually engaging work. Felted art invites touch as well as sight, making it a truly multi-sensory experience.
What would you do with $25,000?I have long dreamed of attending artist retreats abroad. This award would allow me to travel to inspiring places like Scotland, Hungary, and Cyprus, where I could study advanced felting techniques with master feltmakers such as Moy Mackay, Flora Kovacs, and Natalya Brashovetskaya. Immersing myself in these environments would expand my skills, deepen my creative voice, and bring new ideas back to my work and community.
