Creating is apart of me. I feel strange when my hands aren’t busy. Both of my parents paint and or craft. It’s in my blood.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love painting landscapes and coming up with creature designs for myself but my favorite art to create is the ones for friends. The challenge of having them tell me what they want, pushes me to learn new techniques and methods that I wouldn’t necessarily practice for myself.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everything. My mom taught me to use my imagination and I grew up picking shapes out of the clouds, knobby tree trunks, patterns in a rug or just about anything. I love photography and I use my pictures for reference as well. I get inspired by the way the light shines through the foggy forest and how the dew sits on a blade of grass. When I write my stories, I find inspiration in my memories and use everything I have learned in my life to craft stories for my friends.
What would you do with $25,000?I would start by crying because it would come at a time that my husband and I need it most. It wouldn’t pay off our house but it would help supplement the income that has been lost when my husband stopped being able to work due to health issues that aren’t covered by disability or insurance. I would use some of it to repair the house so we could sell it and move closer to family.
