Hyper-collage! It’s a fusion of digital and analogue techniques. I like to create on my computer and finish with my hands. It’s traditional in the sense that I’m arranging pieces of paper to create something- but much more than just aesthetics. First I lay out on my computer then print, transfer that image to canvas, then I’m cutting tons of colors up from magazines and scrap paper to rebuild my image on canvas. I love the freedom to use anything I want as my medium, even if it’s trash.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration all around me. It might come from a feeling I had listening to a favorite song, a conversation with good friends, an old memory or even a place I may have visited where I felt truly free. I might get inspired by current or past events, my family, or pareidolia. I love to create imagery that hybrids old ideas with new aesthetics or vice versa.
What would you do with $25,000?I would love to travel to major art hubs around the US to meet other artists and to share my art. Maybe get into some galleries.. I would most certainly upgrade my art studio in some ways and invest a great deal of time to create all the art that is currently just a list of ideas on paper.. I would also invest in my family’s love for art and crafts to help them with the cost of their own projects big and small.
