My favorite work is large-scale contemporary abstract painting. I’m especially drawn to building layered surfaces where gesture, mark-making, and structure can coexist. Color is central to my process. I gravitate toward vibrant, distinctive palettes where unexpected combinations create tension, rhythm, and emotional charge. Scale matters to me because it allows the work to feel immersive—less like an object to look at and more like a space to enter.
Where do you find inspiration?A lot of my inspiration comes from past experiences—moments, environments, and emotional residue that stay with me long after the event itself has passed. I’m also drawn to ordinary objects and overlooked details that carry meaning but often go unnoticed. Sometimes it’s a surface, a symbol, a fragment of architecture, a repeated mark, or something discarded that still holds memory. I’m interested in what people pass by without seeing, and in pulling those quiet things into focus until they carry
What would you do with $25,000?With $25,000, the first thing I would do is secure a studio for 24 months. Having a dedicated space would give me the stability to work at the scale and intensity my practice demands, without the constant pressure of everyday financial obligations competing with the creative process. That kind of environment would directly increase both the quality and consistency of my output. I would also commit at least 50% of the funding toward a workshop initiative in the CARICOM region focused on storytel
