There are so many ways to view and interact with the world, I want to show some of the loud, wacky, unabashed beauty that I see.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I never really liked museums the art was beautiful but the world was lacking. Neat spacing between canvases and dull walls surrounding them. These museums full of brilliant art, aren't designed for the artists that fill them they’re designed for simplicity. I create because I want to show that art is the world around us. It’s interactive and unique and fun because we get to choose the styles, colors, and parts that we resonate with out of endless possibilities instead of being told what is art.
Where do you find inspiration?Loud, spunky, colorful, interactive; when I create art these words are part of my core intentions. I love things that feel weird, out of place or can't help but attract my attention. Teeth, bones, funky patterns, abnormal colors and so on excite me.
What would you do with $25,000?Most of it will go towards college, and some will be chipped in for my dad’s funeral. For me it’s more about the recognition. As a woman I have had my voice talked over many times, but much like my art, I’d rather be louder than take it. I create what I want regardless of the medium, size, or appearance. I belong in my field, and I will stand out unabashedly if it means I get to do what I love.
