When I was 7years old my father gifted me a camera. This is my first and last memory of him. I remember taking photos all day to my dolls.

I love almost all kinds of art, but my favorite is photography. It freezes a moment in the present that will never happen again. It evokes a memory in time. It is magic because it comes from the light. It makes this world special, just in a frame. Pictures are like printed memories of your life; they tell a story. You can also create them like I do, which mostly tells new stories. I get to show my ideas to others with these magical tools called a camera.
Where do you find inspiration?Oh gosh, where to start? My inspiration comes from artists who shaped the world, like Botticelli, Leonardo, and Matisse. I’ve always loved the Pre-Raphaelites. My lighting is inspired by Caravaggio and Goya, photographers of their time. Growing up in Italy, surrounded by art, I find beauty in every street. I’m also inspired by strong women like Tina Modotti and Frida Kahlo. Recently, my deepest inspiration has come from the struggles I’ve faced in life.
What would you do with $25,000?If awarded the $25,000 grant, I will use it to complete ANIMA, a photography project exploring silent mental health struggles and helping to reduce stigma. The funds will support production, including studio, lighting, and collaborators, as well as post-production and fine art printing. It will also allow me to present the work through exhibitions and online, creating space for awareness, dialogue, and connection, and building a community where people are not afraid to speak up.
