I’ve always loved how with art I’m able to create my world with as much creative liberty as I want.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love creating pieces that really make you think. For me, this is surrealism with subject matter that is mainly inspired from renaissance paintings mixed with nature and whimsical elements I come up with myself. My favorite medium is oil paint on canvas since I’m able to create pieces with eye popping colours and really work the paint and create layers of depth. I also enjoy paintings portraits and playing around with colours and facial structures.
Where do you find inspiration? My main source of inspiration is Italian renaissance art. The skill that went in to these old paintings has always amazed me. I never resonated with the subject matter in these paintings, which made me inspired to create my own versions. I’ve also been heavily inspired by the surrealist movement, and in my paintings I try to incorporate aspects of renaissance, surrealism, and of course my own personal touch and imagination.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d love the opportunity to reinvest this funding into my art practice. One of my long-standing goals has been to present my work in an in-person showcase, and this support would help make that vision a reality by covering application costs and associated fees.
