Many elements go into creating a fashion collection and it is hard for me to choose one specific aspect of it - I love turning concept research into fashion illustrations as much as I love turning those illustrations into wearable garments.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everything around me, in colors I see surrounding me, whether it’s a garden or subway, but also many many designers that I look up to. Alexander McQueen said that clothes is just clothes and everything’s already been made, so for me mixing daily memories with newly discovered but timeless silhouettes is like a delicate puzzle, where I have to create something fresh, but just as memorable as classics.
What would you do with $25,000?I will invest some of it into growing my art collective and the brand I started with them to continue challenging current fashion industry which is fast paced and consumerist, with my perception and approach to it, where I see fashion as an investment and fine art, a method of communicating social messages or personal feelings and not just attention value online. I will set the other half of my winnings aside to sponsor my little brothers college fund and help him leave Russia and avoid army.
