I want to preserve Ukrainian culture and share it with the world. At the same time I retain a voice in the world full of wars and violence.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I use a mix of oil painting, printmaking and sewing. My tequinique includes intricate Ukrainian patterning called "Vybyika" that is used in clothing and home decor. My subject matter is current political situation in the world, injustice and wars. By combining beauty and violence I represent social and political events that are happening in the world not in a form of news articles but in a form of art.
Where do you find inspiration?I find my inspiration in the infinite strengh of Ukrainian people and current news. Each art piece I create is a memorial of a certain event that was happening at the time of creation. In a world where deaths are dismissed to a statistics and the word “war” is only seen in the news articles, I try to represent the events on a deeper personal level offering the viewer a visceral experience of disorientation, confusion, grief and regret.
What would you do with $25,000?Pay off some of my student loans (I am graduating May 2026). Rent our a small shed or a studio to keep creating, visit Ukraine next summer.
