Art is inseparable from who I am. I feel at peace when I am creating. I release my feelings, passion and emotions in the work

Though I have been a long-time monotype printmaker, over the past few years I've embraced mixed-media abstract art. With mixed-media I feel free to express emotion, energy, and spontaneous mark-making. I love combining the layered techniques of collage with the fluidity of acrylics. Lately, collage has heavily influenced my work, adding texture and a new dimension to my paintings. I do enjoy painting with oils, the square paintings I have presented in my gallery are 30x30" oil paintings.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration finds me, and I let my brushes take over. I mix colors freely, avoiding rigid control to embrace pure spontaneity. Without a preconceived notion, I paint what I feel in the moment. Only after the piece takes shape do I sit back, adding details or collage elements to finish the work. This intuitive, unstructured process offers me the creative freedom to express my truest emotions.
What would you do with $25,000?I've always wanted to experience a artist residency, the money could help me do that. I live in a rural area. It would be wonderful to get out and share my Ideas and hear the inspirations of other contemprary artists while working on a new body of work.
