I go to a different place when I create. It’s peaceful, sensual , soothing and the brush is an extension of my creative soul. Enjoy
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Sensual female nudes, goddesses. I paint with oils on canvas, Masonite board and sheet metal.
Where do you find inspiration?Life. Working with photos. Spent a winter painting a series of sensual female nudes inspired by erotic postcards from Paris and some from Italy . 1890 - 1910. I wondered who these women were. Were they mothers? Prostitutes? Models? A sadness in their beautiful poses. Photographs from bordellos. I wanted them to be ghostly, but not painted in black and white. So I added a cobalt blue to the paintings.I had conversations with them and even gave them names. The series “Bordello Blues”.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to paint again. Reopen my garage studio. I would help the artists in my cafe. I put my art on hold for twenty years .I love my musicians, artists and poets.I feel it’s time to get my brushes wet again! Thank you for the opportunity Johnny !
