Creating art allows me to express my emotions, explore my imagination, and connect with others through beauty and creativity!
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
As a multidisciplinary artist, I blend my roots in the Dominican Republic with my experiences as a celebrity fashion makeup artist in New York. My captivating photo-based artworks, referred to as “human collages,” merge ancient body painting traditions with American abstract expressionism. I create immersive pieces that push boundaries, using colorful paint to envelop my models. Projects like “Aurora Dreams” explore performative elements.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everyday moments and the world around me. Nature's beauty, whether it's a vibrant sunset or the intricate patterns of a leaf, encourages me to explore color and form. Cultural traditions, particularly from my Dominican roots, enrich my artistic perspective. Personal experiences and emotions, both joyful and challenging, often guide my creative process. I also appreciate engaging with other artists and their work, which sparks new ideas and collaborations.
What would you do with $25,000?If I had $25,000, I would put it towards the second edition of et CETERA journal, a magazine I founded to bring together artists from diverse backgrounds. My goal is to embrace the theme “INTERSECTION,” which reflects the many ideas and cultures that shape our shared experiences. This funding would help support our contributors, allowing us to highlight the interplay among art, fashion, and beauty in a meaningful way.
