My favorite type of art to create is mixed-media paintings based on automatic drawing. I've also started to branch out into more sculptural work based on the same process. Most often this work is non-representational, though sometimes I do highlight figures that appear within the shapes and forms that are created by the automatic drawing process.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration comes from situation and thoughts in my life that I want to shine light on. I flesh out that thought in a poem, prayer, or short story, which becomes the title, and then I sit with it and everything that comes from that. From there my inspiration comes from the space around me. I close my eyes and invite everything that's vibrating inside and around me to guide my pencil.
What would you do with $25,000?I would pay some debt, put money aside for a house down-payment, and then design my studio space inside that new house. I would also put some of that money towards a vacation. There is also a wonderful local non-profit called Killeen Kreators that I would make a donation to.
