I enjoy creating art that sparks curiosity and awareness. I want viewers to engage with my work on a conceptual level, discovering their own narratives that raise social and political questions. Rather than spelling things out, I aim to provoke open interpretation. The art I value most asks questions without offering clear answers, and that is the kind of work I strive to create. To me, that is one of art’s primary functions.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everyday life, the complex, often unpredictable mix of experiences that make it both exciting and challenging. I draw inspiration from people, current events, conversations, music, history, literature, religion, and the evolving identity of America. I’m also inspired by what feels like messages from the future such as emerging technologies and shifts in society. My best ideas come to me when I am surrounded by nature. To me, everything holds enough meaning to inspire art.
What would you do with $25,000?I would save half of it and use the other half to purchase new art materials for my next project. Then, I would take a trip somewhere immersed in nature.
