I create to remind us what it means to be human at a moment when visibility equals value and algorithm is king.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Drawing is at the heart of my practice. It allowed me to communicate as a child when words would fail me. Sketching is impulsive and instinctual, just a free flow of ideas from hand to paper. Drawing is as integral to my paintings as the paint itself. But I'm know for my eyes, they are the real vehicle for expressing emotion.
Where do you find inspiration?Being alive in today's world is complex, challenging. I'm interested in the way we perform and curate versions of ourselves to be seen and belong - all the pressures that shape who we are, our identity, the way we move in our bodies. I'm inspired by what it takes to simple exist as a human.
What would you do with $25,000?I would reinvest that back into my artistic community and continue to develop my body of work "The Aesthetics of Obedience." And I would support my family.
