I work mostly in oil paint and oil stick. I have been exploring creating works in steel using different cutting, welding and industrial fabrication techniques. Ultimately, I am interested in translating conventional production and craft into work that aligns with my vision of representation and allegory.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in looking at art, objects, architecture, interior design film and music. I am inspired by American folk and Spanish /american mission painting and objects from the colonial era of America through the 20th century.
What would you do with $25,000?I would reinvest $25000 into art production. This would allow me to invest in a kiln to explore a ceramic relief mural and sculptures. I would also be able to rent a studio and create a series of paintings expanding on the recent oil stick and paintings I have been making. $25000 would would give me a financial respite to focus on and produce a fully formed body of work to exhibit.
