I’m not sure I have a choice. I create art for my well being and to satisfy my purpose. I do it to stay young and show wonder and empathy.

I get the most pleasure in making sculptures of everyday people I have photographed while walking the streets of New York and Brooklyn. I like elevating the average person into a piece of fine art that shows their true magnificence for all they have been through, by being human. My favorite art shows empathy and humor and is real. I try not to take life too seriously and want that reflected in my art.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in little things, like an old woman's slippers that are too big for her or a homeless man sleeping sitting up with his chin on his chest. I find inspiration in eye contact and a smile from a stranger. I find inspiration in the wagging tail of a dog. I find inspiration in the first yellow flowers of a forsythia bush when there is still snow on the ground. I find inspiration in friends who are always happy to hear from me, no matter how long we are apart.
What would you do with $25,000?I would get caught up on some debts I have accumulated by having an erratic artists income. I would put some money aside for a future move to another country. I would use some of the money to visit my son, who I have not seen in a few years. I would use the money to give myself a little breathing room for a few months.
