I want to create scenes that are warm, odd, and alive. I want to evoke stories that extend off of the canvas and feel personal to viewers.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I like to create scenes that beg audiences to engage with the stories and to fill in what comes before and what comes after. There should be something familiar yet unique in my scenes… something that makes people think “This feels familiar. And my brain seems to know where to go next with the story.”
Where do you find inspiration?Comedy shows stimulate my creativity. I love stand up, Monty Python, Christopher Guest movies… I’m inspired by absurd humor.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the money to buy time and materials to create a massive triptych interior scene. I want viewers to feel like they’re standing inside of the painting. I want it to be so big that they’re engulfed by the scene.
