Painting is the closest thing I know to magic. Something appears that I didn't plan, and I am the first to see it. That is why I keep going.

Textured abstract painting is my favorite. I love working while the paint is still wet and moving, watching color and form transform under my hands as if the piece has a life of its own. The conversation between my intention and the paint's own behavior is where the work lives — I am partly painting the piece, and the piece is partly painting itself. When I step back and see what we made together, that is the part I love.
Where do you find inspiration?I am inspired by joy, love, peace, and presence — when those meet in a painting, a viewer feels it without ever meeting the artist. I can reach someone across a room, across a country, without being there. You will find me at the beach, hugging palm trees and listening to the wind move through the fronds. Coastal light and the rhythm of water are inseparable from how I see color. A supportive art family holds me up. Art is not something I make. It is how I live.
What would you do with $25,000?I would build a healing arts foundation on the Gulf Coast — a space where people decompress, restore balance, and support their mental health. As a licensed massage therapist trained in trauma-informed bodywork and Reiki, I would pair sessions with large-canvas painting so each person leaves holding a tangible record of their own transformation. The remainder funds art therapy training and continuing education with Simon Bull, Nicholas Wilton and other teachers.
