I make art to hold onto memory, home, and identity. It helps me process change and create connection across places and people.

I’m drawn to creating immersive, multi-sensory installations that bring together photography, video, and textiles. I enjoy working with personal archives, especially family photographs and my grandmother’s saris, to explore memory, migration, and identity. My work often moves between image and material, building environments that feel both intimate and layered.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in everyday life, especially in memory, family archives, and domestic spaces. Moving between India and the U.S. has shaped how I notice small details like objects, routines, and textures that hold emotional weight. I’m also inspired by materials like old photographs and textiles, and how they carry history. Conversations, teaching, and being present in different environments often lead me to new ideas.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the award to support dedicated studio time and expand the scale of my work. This includes materials for installations such as textiles, printing, and video production, along with documentation. Part of the funding would support research around my experience as an immigrant, gathering personal and community narratives. It would allow me to take risks and develop more ambitious work around migration, memory, and belonging.
