I focus on creating work centered on community, womanhood, and chosen kinship. Grounded in rigorous research, archiving, and reclamation, my practice draws from music, poetry, and surrealism. I aim to alchemize stories into expressions of joy, community, and childlike wonder, honoring shared histories and reimagining them with care.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in literature, especially anthologies and poetry. My art blends the energy of graffiti with elements of fine art, focusing on themes of community, womanhood, and surrealism. Characterized by bold compositions and a black-and-white palette, I draw influence from artists like Kara Walker, Joshua Vides, and Mark Addison Smith.
What would you do with $25,000?This funding would support my studio practice by providing essential tools and materials. I plan to purchase two Fujifilm X-H2S cameras with lenses for professional documentation. The funds will also cover archival materials, such as Arches BFK Rives paper and Moab Exhibition photo paper, as well as canvas and Golden SoFlat paints. Additionally, the support will include lighting, a travel tripod, and necessary expenses for printing, framing, and general studio supplies.
