My favorite art form is sequin art, inspired by Haitian tradition. Rooted in a history where, even during slavery, beliefs and spirituality were transformed into beauty and meaning, it carries cultural significance. Through hand-sewn sequins and beads, each piece becomes a story, reflecting our history, our struggles, and what makes us feel alive.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in people, their stories, emotions, smiles, and quiet strength. In everyday moments, in silence, in conversations, and in the way light and colors shift around us. My roots and culture play an essential role in my creative process. Sometimes, inspiration arises when words fail me, and I let my feelings translate into colors, textures, and movement.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to support an art project for women in Haiti, particularly in areas like Port-au-Prince affected by gang violence. The goal is to create safe and creative spaces where women can express their stories, emotions, and resilience through art. The funds would finance materials, workshops with local artists, and community exhibitions, helping to transform trauma into healing, visibility, and empowerment.
