I enjoy creating art that feels free or represents an idea or emotion. However, other times I just have an idea and feel motivated to create. As of lately, oil pastels have been my medium of choice. I feel the most unrestricted when using them. The process of layering them has allowed me to work for a medium, instead of pushing it to work for me. This has created a process I enjoy even more than the results that come from it.

I find inspiration in childhood interests and pop culture. Such as horror film icons introduced to me by my grandmother, and superheroes like Spider-Man that I’ve loved and looked up to my whole life. My emotional state or life events can also encourage my direction in creating a narrative or emotion. I feel it is important to hope people can relate to my experiences through my art.

I would finally get rid of my car that has been a money pit, and clear the remaining debt I have. Without my two biggest stressors, I would buy a tattoo machine without fear. I would then work towards my dream of becoming a tattoo artist, to live my passion and get to meet people. I want to hear personal stories, and create meaningful work that represents each person who comes to me. With a form of art as my career, I would work to fulfill my dream of painting a mural in a major city.
