I play. It’s the most fun thing in the world to turn rubbish and the things that people are so quick to call trash into something beautiful.

I guess I would say making masks. But I would never say I stop there. I am originally from South Africa and I was surrounded by a divergence and collision of cultures, histories, and perspectives. I have lived in many different countries and I have seen my spirit reflected by others. I am note in a greater song -That I am a part of something that makes me human. The art of making “something” from “nothing” I’d say that was my “favorite type of art” the one that finds a way, that lives- despite.
Where do you find inspiration? In everything. Im sure that’s what everyone says, but artists are a mirror to this world; All its madness, rage, confusion and love. Why would I look one place. Yet I would be lying if I didn’t also say the forgotten. We are so quick to turn just about everything into trash, I always want to give it a second look, another life, another chapter -before the dirt. I guess I could say the same thing about myself and the people I’ve come to know. The story never ends, there is always something more.
What would you do with $25,000?I have lost my ability to make at the moment. No space, no equipment. I was forced to move after hurricane Helene/Milton destroyed my home and workspace in Venice, FL in 2024. I now live in South Carolina; No studio, no real funds to start over. Still I make art, little things, in our extra room of our 2 bedroom apartment. I miss having a shop, it’s made welding again impossible at the moment. So your help would give me the chance to make my work again- but I don’t expect it. I will find a way.
