In a world of digitally produced images, I believe in people using their hands to create the images that best represent who they truly are.

Creating has always come natural to me. I began experimenting with colored pencils, graphite, and oil pastel but now consider oil paint my primary medium. Rather than commit to one type of art, I focus on exploring whatever I'm curious about in my work.
Where do you find inspiration?I like to consider my work rooted in truth. Family photos, a first date, and objects that symbolize my experience as a Mexican-American, are previous references I've cited to build a visual artistic language. This choice allows my pieces to function as memoirs informed by memory that are deeply visceral and intimate.
What would you do with $25,000?Like many other creatives, I'm struggling to monetarily fund my craft and live a functional life while in the arts. Commitment, curiosity, and drive I am fully supplied. There are so many plans I have to further expand my visual art portfolio, as well as explore other mediums like music. Canvases, paint, and brushes, as well as money for food, and a car are the things I would immediately apply the $25,000 towards.
