Making art is essential to my nature. It is how I relate to landscape, people, and our place in time.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

The creation of rich paintings drives me to get out of bed everyday. There is always an idea or sensation to absorb, dream about, and turn into a painting. I want to curate work that promotes visions, dreams of the future and past. I want viewers to not be sure if they are looking at a dream, the present, or memory yet to form.

Where do you find inspiration?

Inspiration comes from everywhere, a found paper on the ground, historic figures, archaeological objects, memories, science, and old masters painters.

What would you do with $25,000?

The reward money would allow me to develop my Night Creatures series and exhibit it in a major city, ideally New York or LA. I could work with a curator, hire a space, and market it. I want a fun event that draws in all types people and gets people talking. I’d have a band too, of course.
