I love to create art because art is love and emotion in physical form. Even if it’s a painful subject. The love artists bring is never lost.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

Creating paintings with acrylic paint seems to bring me the most joy because of how adaptable it is to my environment and physical disabilities. Acrylic on canvas is forgiving with mistakes, can be painted with fingers and can be transported around. This helps when your life is ruled by 4 chronic illnesses.

Where do you find inspiration?

The ideas that I paint always come in like a lightening bolt to the brain. I may not even be thinking about another painting but I will get an intense image appear in my minds eye when something must be painted. I am always grateful for painful and or beautiful experience though, because they can always spark your next art piece. My animal portraits often take inspiration from their most loved experiences or traits the owner loved.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would be able to continue pursuing my artwork while being able to also fight for Multiple Sclerosis and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Advocacy. I am an MS, HEDS, POTS and Trigeminal Neuralgia warrior and there is so much work to be done educating people about disabilities, the medical systems in the US, and the toll chronic illnesses/ disabilities take on the individual and the family. Disabilities have no biases, any one can become disabled at any time and advocacy through art is important.
