I guess one could say I do it because it makes me feel human again, connected to the world around me.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

It depends on my mood. More often lately its oils which provide a certain meditative immersion for me. I forget everything for a time.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration from my past. It's more a motivation. At times I thought I didn't want to make it. Art saved me. It gave me purpose, confidence, expression. It gave me the feeling that it was possible to be "normal" again. Sounds, shadows, light, inner emotions that spring out of nowhere inspire me. I feel the need to tell my story as the more I share the more normal I feel.

What would you do with $25,000?

That's quite a bit! I would like to donate some to a shelter to buy art supplies to help people express themselves, especially those battling PTSD, some as well to the Children's Hospital in Detroit where my late daughter got the most loving care by some incredible people. I would like to take my family somewhere on a little trip as they've supported me more than I could ever expect or ask for.
