Learn MoreWhat is your favorite type of art to create?
My favorite art is mixed media that uses unique materials to spark meaningful conversation. I’m less interested in objects to view and more in creating spaces where people pause, feel, and recognize themselves. Through layered color, texture, and story, I invite viewers to experience the work, connect to our shared humanity, and feel seen and understood. Ultimately, I hope the work empowers people to speak up, embrace their voice, and imagine new possibilities within themselves and their lives.
Where do you find inspiration?
My inspiration comes from the beauty of our world and the resilience of people within it. Quiet moments, memories, observations and news often spark my work. My scientific background deepens my curiosity about how color and environment shape emotion. I am especially moved by those facing hardship with strength, reminding me that art can create connection, healing, and understanding and offer moments of hope and renewed sense of belonging. I love showing that everyone can benefit from doing art.
What would you do with $25,000?
I would create mobile, artist-led workshops in hospitals, libraries, schools, and community spaces, using art as a tool for emotional expression and healing. Funding would support high quality art materials, outreach, and documentation, building a collective archive of participant stories giving them visibility. I would also champion artists by curating their work, connecting them with businesses, and advocating to leaders on the vital role of art in mental health and community well-being.
