I create images to challenge perception and prompt viewers to question and assess their connection to their environment and community.

I enjoy creating large scale installation pieces using digital animation and music compositions. The storytelling aspect of creating work like this is both challenging and fulfilling. It is also exciting to use surrealist concepts that subvert reality where human scale is irrelevant and absurdism and satire become the fabric of a new micro-universe.
Where do you find inspiration? As a person who is engaged with independent journalism, activist movements, and has even won a U.S. Senate Primary race, I find inspiration in political, environmental, and social issues. I am a keen observer of nature and ecosystems and how human activity disrupts rather than supports delicate balances in nature. Finding ways to illustrate anthropocentrism with humor and beauty is an constant in my research and practice as an artist.
What would you do with $25,000?With a $25,000 prize I would invest that into my studio equipment and use funds to travel and experience wild spaces that are threatened by human exploitation. Using funds to engage and collaborate with artists, film makers, activists, scientists and educators to create more large-scale immersive work would be a huge burst of momentum. There is never enough, and there is always work to be done.
