Lynne Mizera

I am always striving to capture that piece of a woman she keeps hidden from the world and to have you get lost in her eyes trying to see it.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love to create richly layered and deeply textured paintings on canvas, using fluid acrylic paint as glazes that allow you to see through the layers to the collage papers and stamped images and writing underneath. I enjoy this mixed media process because it draws the viewer in as they move closer to see details of the painting. This process speaks to me on a deeper level as life is also multi dimensional with many layers of emotion and experiences, and I want that to show through in my work.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration from the many amazing women that I have met in my life. Women are so strong yet so fragile at the same time. In my paintings, I strive to capture that littke piece of her that she keeps hidden from the world. I want my images to leave you wondering what is she thinking and what is she feeling. But also, I want you to be drawn to the piece because you resonate with those feelings on a deeper level.

What would you do with $25,000?

My art and art journalling helped me to heal and recover from a difficult past. I would use this money to help me set up classes to teach mixed media art journalling to women in my area, using it as a tool to help them gain confidence in their art and themselves as they gently move through their own difficult situations. This money would also be used in my practice as I continue to develop my skills and paint even larger canvases.
