It challenges me to step outside of my comfort zone and accept other possibilities beyond what I already know and share that experience.

I like to make art that is multi-dimentional and has many layers of meaning and interpretation. I do this through high-relief wall pieces, sculptures, and installations. The formal attributes of my art is rooted in abstraction, conceptual art, and what is most commonly referred to as collage. My art is made entirely from recycled paper. And is made out of thousands of pieces of paper and dimensions closer to a piece of wood rather than a thin piece of paper.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the information, words, images, and patterns that we are surrounded by every day. The inspiration for the art is hidden in the things we don't see at first so I take the ordinary things most people would not consider and turn it into something more interesting and less ordinary, creating something you have never seen or thought about before. The inspiration is also in creating art that inspires you to look closer at a subject or think about it differently.
What would you do with $25,000?I would buy equipment (large format printers) and tools to facilitate the creation of new works by introducing new technologies into my art I could never afford to do. In addition, I would start to buy materials needed to build two very large and ambitious art installation pieces I am hoping to complete this year for an upcoming solo museum exhibition. This award would allow me to start this ambitious direction immediately rather than just remaining an idea.
